1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. – The Definitive Guide for Executive Directors ~ Clif Martin, NAHRO

Participants will focus on the role, responsibilities, daily operational supervision, training programs, and requirements of an executive leader. This course focuses on the paradigms and strategies critical to successful management and leadership of today’s housing agencies. This course is designed for the seasoned director and the new.

Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the shift from bureaucracy to business in housing agencies
  • Recall common housing programs and requirements for operation
  • Describe the role and relationships of the Board and the Executive Director
  • Detect and avoid ethical dilemmas and conflicts of interests and learn how to promote ethical work cultures
  • Understand and utilize key federal resources, programs and assessment systems that are critical to agency operations
  • Identify strategies, training, and resources to support the Executive Director in their new role

1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. – AHRMA:  What Makes AHRMA Unique ~ Julie DePasse, CEO
Julie and several others from the AHRMA staff will provide an overview of AHRMA, a Member (PHA) owned risk management association.  Following the presentation you can ask staff about coverage, underwriting (pricing), loss control and our claims process.

2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. – Prevalent Issues in Housing Cases ~ Mike Kujawa, Erika Baldonado, Deborah Ostvig, Jon Sommerfeld, Thomas Schick and Emily Ottesen, Shain, Banks, Kenny & Schwartz, Ltd.
The attorneys will address the following topics: terminations, slip and falls, bed bugs and other Federal claims
